Collecting earthy materials - rocks, rubble, pigments - and using them to depict places and ideas is the bedrock of my practice. Such ordinary stuff is ubiquitous but unique. My work is a collaboration with these inanimate materials. I explore ways to encourage them to express their character and energy and maybe, tell us something about their origins and history. I seek to engage the viewer's curiosity in the earth-derived materials that we take for granted in our surroundings. The art takes various forms - land art, drawings, prints, installation - as I find different ways to work with these geological materials.
